Every blog has to start somewhere. What better day to do my first post than on a day that happens only once very 4 years?? Leap Day!
Let me just start by saying hello and welcome! I’m Joanna Smith, creator of Fed and Fulfilled, and to anyone who has stumbled upon my humble blog, THANK YOU for visiting! As a newbie blogger, it’s hard to actually envision anyone aside from my friends and family reading this post or checking out my recipes (which will be coming soon)! But hopefully, my take on gluten-free, mainly paleo recipes will be crowd-pleasing and memorable!
I made the decision to create Fed and Fulfilled sort of on a whim, as a New Year’s resolution for 2016. The more I thought about it and talked to my husband, Mark, about it, the more it started to feel like something I could actually do. I tend to err on the side of caution, so diving into this seemed like a pretty big risk, considering I knew absolutely nothing about the ins and outs of running a food blog, or any blog, for that matter! But, I did love looking at OTHER people’s food photos, recipes, and blogs… all while doubting I could ever achieve anything close to that.Yet, here I am! I feel like Leap Day is the most perfect day to do something you might not normally do. Something a little crazy, a little uncomfortable, but definitely exciting. And for me, that is start a food blog. You might be wondering more about who I am and what this blog represents, and you can read more about all that on my “About” page, but in short, aside from it being a New Year’s resolution to do something new, I do feel like my life has been leading up to this moment in many ways. In the past 5 years, I’ve lived through several health obstacles, emotional struggles, and dietary changes. Throughout these challenges, I’ve been making, adapting, and saving recipes that I’ve found and loved, while beginning to develop my own. I’ve always enjoyed cooking and entertaining, so I guess this is sort of a virtual way of doing that! 🙂 I’ve also never felt like I’ve had a job that really suited me very well, but if this does end up becoming more of a business than a hobby, then I think it may just be the perfect job for me.I’m excited to create future recipe posts for you, as well as going deeper into who I am, what I believe, and the health journey that led me here. I will be learning as I go, so I welcome your input, ideas, comments, questions, all of it!! 😉 Special shout out to Pinch of Yum, Food Blogger Pro, and Just a Girl and Her Blog, which have all been so incredibly inspiring and helpful as I dive in to this new world of blogging. And to my husband, Mark, who has been my biggest source of encouragement and strength! While I don’t have a new recipe for you today, I do have a question for you:
What is it that you’re doing today to “take a leap”? Starting a new job? Trying a new hobby? Sampling new foods? Maybe even creating your OWN blog?! (To which I say, GO FOR IT!)
Here’s to Leap Day!
Until next time,
Joanna
